Through curved or Cylindrical Bodies
Angularly to the Surface Plane Bore
Angularly Drilled and through Curved-Hole Cylindrical Bodies
(as with oil holes in crankshafts)
The ELIPTO-MASTER ® is suitable for use with low speed drills, drill presses, and automatic machinery. Only light pressure is necessary to generate the cutting action of the ELIPTO-MASTER ®.
The unique design of ELIPTO-MASTER ® features a conically shaped pilot, which allows for easy direction into the drilled hole. The self-centering, spring-loaded pilot seats itself at a point corresponding to the hole diameter. Thus establishing a rotational axis for further advance of the tool and entry of the cutter. This action will produce a chamfer of relative conformity.
Speed and ease of operation are achieved through a unique design feature of the ELIPTO-MASTER ®, which allows the cutter to follow the surface configuration of the hole without manual guidance.
The ELIPTO-MASTER ® tool body is made of hardened ground steel. Cutter blades are of high-speed steel, heat-treated, finish ground, and then surface treated for added wear resistance. Operational range of the tool is determined by pilot diameter and not by cutter width.
The cutter blades can be easily and effectively reground in the shop (see diagram on the right.) Replacement blades are available from stock.
The ELIPTO-MASTER ® tool is available in 3 sizes and has an operating range of 5/32" to 1" diameter. (See table below).

Note: ELIPTO-MASTER ®
tools are not recommended for use in applications where the diameter of the part
is less than 1-1/2 times the size of the diameter of the drilled hole. This
limitation especially applies when finishing holes drilled in soft, ductile
material.
